{baby shower} you are my sunshine
alice contacted me through etsy and asked about making her a custom baby shower invitation for her baby sister who's expecting her first baby and lives in germany. so needless to say, she wanted to make this shower extra special for niki. alice was thinking yellow because they didn't know the baby's gender and said she wanted to use the song you are my sunshine because she remembers niki singing it to their mom when she was young. so after lots of great ideas from alice i came up with this design. she loved it.

she also wanted baby bingo cards

words of wisdom cards

name game cards

and envelope seals

i love how these turned out.
thanks, alice!

{baby shower} betty
betty's mother-in-law contacted me about invitations for a surprise baby shower. she didn't know what she wanted but she knew she wanted something stylish and gender neutral. i came up with lots of samples and this is the one she chose. it's so cute and it was great working with her.

{birthday invite} katygirl's 30th
what a sweet blessing to be surrounded by great friends.
this year most of my friends, including me, are turning 30. i don't know what to think about my birthday yet. i know this sounds silly but 30 doesn't sound as old as it used to. but i'm still wondering when i'll feel like a real adult, because so far i don't. it seems weird for me to think that i have two kids, and that my oldest is going to kindergarten in the fall, i'm surely not old enough for that!
anywho, scottyboy asked davi, lori and i to throw a party for our dear friend and we all joyfully accepted the task.

We divided the duties and i got the best job, making the invites and party favors.

davi hosted, her backyard is sooooooo cute and the perfect size for a dinner party for 16.

and lori decorated, made desserts and even brought her telephone booth for decoration. so cute!

we had a great night celebrating our sweet friend. can't wait to do it all over again in 10 years!

{confessions} over chai tea
katy just started this "confessions over chai tea" deal on her blog and i love the idea! so i'm linking up with katygirl to tell one of my confessions.

so... i have a confession.
i'm a loser.
last night i was running behind, having spent a good portion of my afternoon reading blogs and chatting on google, with a little laundry in the middle somewhere, i guess that's what i get. we were going to a basketball game and i needed to make dinner before so we didn't fall into the fast food pit once again. i put a few chicken breasts into the oven and went and got myself ready. i soon realized i didn't have enough time for the chicken dinner i was planning so i quickly changed the game plan. i fixed the new dinner menu and continued rushing around the house to get out the door and into our seats at the arena before tip off. i was successful at that! we had a great time at the game and riley actually understood the concept of the game, to get the ball into the net, and cheer like crazy when the yellow team made a basket. we spilled a soda and ate candy in our seats. it was a great time. we came home 2.5 hours later to a HORRIBLE smell, we thought it was left over from our shameful hot dog dinner, we gaged and cracked a few jokes, then it hit me...THE CHICKEN! i had left the chicken in the oven for over 3 hours. and it was WELLLL done! i immediately pulled the dish out of the oven and put in the sink and started the water. before andrew could even warn me about what i had just done, the dish shattered into a million pieces.
i know, way to go!

{new year's card} rea and tim
...we've been through thick and thin, braces, breakups, weddings, deaths, cartons of ice cream, c-sections, parents, pets, births, fights, painting, diapers, in-laws, vactions...you get the idea. she's my very best friend from day one. i love her {and that adorable baby} all the way to her toes. she was thinking ahead and planning for her procrastination and decided to do a "new year's" card instead of a christmas card. good thinkin sister.
